and when I felt the waves
rise and fall inside me,
a rhythmic contraction and release
that drew me time and again
to their unequivocal presence,
I didn't realise
they were calling out
to their Mother,
who gathered them happily
in one fell swoop,
into her large bosom,
as I stood before her
and smiled and bowed,
saying to myself,
"they belong to you."
