Hide and Seek

step aside
if you will,
from people
who make you feel small;
not so you can feel big,
not so you can feel proud
of standing up for yourself,
but because
when you step aside,
you step into
those parts of you
you want to walk away from,
you want to stand up for,
you step into
your own self -
the seeker
and the hiding place
that is always found,
even in your
stepping away
from the game.
