Desires

desires -
they are inside
that middle drawer
in my kitchen
that slides back out
soon after I push it back in,
again and again,
standing out
like a sore thumb,
attracting my attention,
refusing to stay
where I want it to stay -
closed shut.
but then,
it keeps me on my toes,
as I watch it carefully,
giving me space
to look in, and pull out
what I want
in a jiffy,
to lay itself open
to my roving eyes,
that have too much to see
in this busy world,
drawing them
to a fervent pause
to watch the longings -
not to put them in place
but to feel their journey
from in to out,
to that exact point
where they stop and stay,
rooted in the presence
of warm eyes
that leave them
open or shut,
all day.

and a drop of water
looked to the ocean
to see how it could die,
but could only find
a thousand ways to live.

Circle Of Life

have you wondered why
the new leaf that clings,
and breathes life
into a buxom tree,
is the one that leaves
and falls to the roots,
to behold another
new leaf upon the tree?

Seed Burst

I feel
a gentle stirring,
a pushing
from within,
to break open
eroded walls
now ready
to give,
as the
hardened earth
readies itself
and crumbles
to a seed burst,
parting ways
to feed life
and death;
new fronds
new branches
new roots
explode
from an
unlit womb,
only to watch
sunbeams
return
to rustle
the quiet breath
of another tree
encased inside
a restful earth.

The Spiral

Stuck.
In the same
endless
cycle -
an illusion
of heading
somewhere,
feeding
myself, and
the past;
fear
holds me
in orbit,
until
I excape
from it
every time,
into
nothing
and
everything.
