Circle of Life

and a mother looked on
with soulful eyes
at her newborn calf -
now a limp carcass,
torn and devoured
by impatient claws
and floundering teeth;
he was just a seed
she carried for a while;
a seed with a story
and a life of his own,
in this unfathomable,
self-nourishing,
circle of life.

The Circle

I stand
at the cusp
of two worlds,
or maybe more -
where will you meet me?

Will you meet me
with your empty self
disappearing
into the centre
of nothingness?
or will you meet me
full of yourself
parading
into the centre
of everything?

Or will you meet me
here, at the edge
that's ever-widening,
where you and I
stand side by side,
poised to take
that small step
together,
just the next one,
into ourselves
and each others'
equal worlds?

Circle Of Life

have you wondered why
the new leaf that clings,
and breathes life
into a buxom tree,
is the one that leaves
and falls to the roots,
to behold another
new leaf upon the tree?

You came so close

you came so close
to giving voice
to words
swallowed
between
your breaths;
you came so close
to touching
my heart
with yours -
I could hear
the heartbeats;
you came so close
to reaching out
through the veil
to feel
my cheek
against yours;
you came so close,
and yet,
you chose
to draw
yourself away;
to leave
the circle
open
unfinished
with, or
without you.
You came so close
only perhaps
to show me the way.

The Circle

the circle
a safe space
to be
at peace
with oneself
beads of water
on lotus leaves
bubbles afloat
upon a breeze
the empty womb
of creation
closed
to the vagaries
of time and space
yet open
to boundless life
and a fullness
of self-contained love
unity
of all things
without beginning
or end
the infinite
life-line
the wheel
of life and death
the point of no return
of coming home
full circle

A Whorl

everything
is in a whorl -
a swirling, a churning,
spinning, unspinning,
each a whirling dervish
of stardust and love;
boundaries a blur,
emotions astir,
no beginning,
no ending,
no place to go to,
but now and here.
