to giving voice
to words
swallowed
between
your breaths;
you came so close
to touching
my heart
with yours -
I could hear
the heartbeats;
you came so close
to reaching out
through the veil
to feel
my cheek
against yours;
you came so close,
and yet,
you chose
to draw
yourself away;
to leave
the circle
open
unfinished
with, or
without you.
You came so close
only perhaps
to show me the way.
