Half-Burnt Logs

and we sat under the stars,
skin to skin,
eye to eye,
heart to heart -
little points of light
growing
dark and heavy
with the descending
heavens,
coming to meet
the curling smoke
spiraling up
from the guts
of a sacred fire,
crying out the song
of half-burnt logs
and the tyranny
of being human.

The Milky Way

don't look for that
perfect time and place
to look out into
the Milky Way;
the stars are here
the darkness is here
right here, in us,
why look away?
when you look to the sky
each glorious night,
and wonder where the Light is,
stop for a moment
beneath the heavens,
and know,
the Milky Way
is right here -
where your heart is.

Like Day-blind Stars

like day-blind stars
on a moonlit night,
disappear quietly
when their time is ripe,
I wish to glow
for a moment tonight,
before I make my way
towards the Light.

Stars!

infinitesimal dots
of love and light,
pierce the darkness
Oh! what a sight!
connect the dots
and you will see,
countless constellations
of starlight!

Where do you find your star?

don't look up to the
studded night sky,
don't look for that perfect star,
don't rest your dreams
upon floating clouds,
don't pin a wish
on things afar;
rip yourself open - now,
bare everything
you've tightly locked,
and in those vaults
of overwhelming darkness,
you can be sure
to find your star!
