Balance

and my heart
tipped over
to one side
and the other,
juggling
squiggling
careening
plunging
soaring
to new heights,
new depths,
new lengths,
new breadths;
lines becoming curves,
circles becoming spheres,
images digested,
and dissolved
beyond definition;
balance emerging then
not from staying
rooted
in the centre,
but by burning bridges
that cradled a spent self,
moving out all the while
with quivering fingertips,
to touch the seamless sky
and her cerulean affinity
to seek her own
dark, uncertain depths.

A Pantomime of Love

If only there was
a world
without words
and war -
a pantomime
of love,

where breath
fills fully
every movement
every touch
rising from
the void
within;

where
love and grace
transform
silence
every step
of the way;

where
yin and yang
rest
in the silent well,
yielding to
the enemy inside,

unwinding
the riddle
of life; and
living Tai Chi
every step
of the way.

The Tipping Point

I choose
the weights -
my emotions,
to place
on the scale.
I learn
as I let
the balance
tip over
to one side;
and then watch,
as it slowly
tips back
to rest
at the fulcrum
of love.

Viewfinder

To capture
a memory,
a moment in time,
I look out,
I dream,
a picture in mind;
what I want to see
is what I often get -
the viewfinder shows
my mind's eye on test;
when I zoom in too much,
I lose sight of the whole,
when I zoom out too much,
I lose sight of the hole!
