happy lostness

when thoughts become
the fringes of a kite
baring its skin,
dancing
in the clear wind
of presence,
still and moving,
at once,
I rest in the soft humus
of my newborn heart,
feeling each tug
upon that string
of love,
binding oceans
and voids
of a happy lostness
in one ordinary breath
of sheer magic.

Hungry for Life!

you know that feeling
when you wake up
some mornings,
with an empty mind
looking into
an empty sky
impossible to be contained
by a line of blue?
yes, that's how
I want to wake up
to every moment,
hungry
for life!

Thoughts and Words

sometimes
thoughts
and words
stick
in my head
like drops of glue;

sometimes
they dart
across
like starlings
from an
unsettled tree;

sometimes
they slip into
a dark void
like pennies
falling
to their
soundless end;

sometimes
they melt
like popsicles
rolling along
a sleepy
warm tongue;

oh! how I wish
I could catch them,
and hold them
for just a moment,
a little longer,
so I could listen
to what they
have to say;

but they
come and go
like happy travellers
exploring
a shifting landscape,
where
to rest a while
is a trespass
on silence's shore.

The Infinite Well

look in
to see
thoughts
and
emotions
trickle
down
into
the
caldera -
the source,
the end
of all
iridescent
orbs
seeking
completion
in an
infinite
well
of peace.

It's time now, to sip my tea

thoughts
distilled
to their essence,
settle down
into
the fragrant
rich
steeped tea
of quiet serenity.
It's time now,
to sip my tea.

Monkey Bars and the Mind

My thoughts are like the rungs of the monkey bars.
I can hold on to each thought as much as I want to, and for as long as I want to.
If I hold on to or stay with just one thought, I will only hang and stay in the same place. I will not get anywhere.
But that is beautiful too. For I can just hang and feel joy in the staying and hanging in one place and enjoy the view and the stillness.
The other thing that I can do is to hold on to each thought just enough, so as to let go of one rung and move on to the next. There is beauty and grace in this movement too. For every thought helps me move on. And while I am moving, if I watch closely, I will be able to enjoy the stillness in the gap - the gap between each rung....just after I let go of one and hold on to the next rung.

Wild Thoughts

Waking up to birdsong and
sharp, persistent pecks
on an illusory window pane;
A nip in the air wakes up
the sleepy hair on my hide,
as I open the door
to soak in the beauty of the wild;
Earthy smells of old leaves
laid to rest on a moist floor,
3G that works
even in the back of beyond;
Missing hot rasam and rice
and home-cooked veggies;
Thinking about what we call home,
and how far away we were from it;
Feeling humbled by the magnitude
of our world and all that lives in it,
in forgotten nooks;
Soaking in the paradoxes
that rule our lives
is not easy;
Wild thoughts
consume me -
just like wild fire,
until I rest in the moment
and watch them dancing. ....

Wild!

If questions
were bridges
to nowhere;
if thoughts
were clouds
of raindrops, to share;
if dreams
were rainbows
without pots of gold;
if feelings
were butterflies
flitting about, to behold;
I would be
the infinite sky,
and everything
that's in it - wild!

Like dust from a new broom

thoughts and emotions
keep coming back
to haunt me -
like the dust
that settles
again and again,
from a new broom -
as you sweep it away,
more falls out
to rest on the space
that was once
cleared out.

I'll meet you there

I'll meet you there
where the earth and sky
empty themselves
into the misty grey void;
where thoughts rest awhile,
and dreams don't fly,
walls cast their form,
and tides don't rise;
I'll meet you there
where the sun and moon
hold hands and stand
to rejoice at noon.
