Fallen Grace

look into my eyes
so you can look
into my soul,
for when I've fallen
from my own
ruthless scrutiny,
my pupils cringe,
my eyelids go limp,
my lashes stroke
the falling tears,
and in that collapse
into a self-made prison,
your eyes
hold me
lift me
and carry me
into the heart
of fallen grace.

Let go like the rain cloud,
That sheds every drop,
To pour its whole self out,
Onto the mountain  top.

Let go like the fall tree,
That drops leaf after leaf
To stand stripped of itself,
Now alive in a heap.

That makes the whole world it's home,
To own nothing and all,
Even as it dances to its  doom.

Fall

have you seen
a tree cry out
when it sheds
a dry leaf that's
past it's prime?
have you seen it
shed a tear
when the fallen leaf
kisses the ground?
I wonder why
do you know?
how does it feel?
how does it know?
that life brings death
and death brings life,
when there's a fall,
there is a rise,
or does it work
with faith and trust
that everything's held
by the Universe,
with love and care
for all that is,
a rise or fall,
each is a gift.
