You were raw and young,
and full of life,
when you were thrown unawares
into a desolate storm;
you did not give up,

You were an untouchable
when you were gravely ill,
a self-imposed avatar
to shut the world out, to look within;

You were a man
when you surrendered your youth,
to feed and care for a family
that looked up to you;

you lived life,
and you walked on....

You were a leader
before your time,
the world praised and frowned,
as you stood your ground;

you lived life,
and you walked on...

You are my father
my hero, my guru -
while I faltered and wandered,
you held me close to you;
you did not give up,

you lived life,
you walked on...

Today when I think
of the things you've done,
my heart yearns to sing
this wonderful song;
