hands, together

have you ever paused
to watch your hands?
how wonderfully they work
together and alone?
how they gather things
in different ways,
yet always feeling,
always holding,
always coming together
as if in opposition,
for something larger
to be born?
have you watched
how one senses
when the other
needs support,
reaching out
in a silent dance
in space?
not because they have to,
but because they want to,
because they remember
what they're here for,
and as i watch them,
i dream of a world
where hands join
together
in a silent dance
around hearts that glow.
