let's light a fire

don't ask me to bear the torch,
to pass it on,
to light up worlds
full of light.

let's ask ourselves
and each other instead,
this burning question -
what is the fire
that's raging inside?

and then,
when all is still and quiet,
and our eyes catch
those dancing fireflies
dissolving into the black,
let's light a fire
with our fires,
and sit around it,
feeling its power,
its warmth and light.
